Do I need Olaplex ? Well, let me tell you about it first. Olaplex is a breakthrough product coming from the US which repairs the bonds of the hair. Various hair treatments like hair colouring, Balayage, Ombre and hair styling using a curling wand or a Cloud Nine or GHD iron can easily break the hair bonds. Thanks to this amazing hair treatment, you are guaranteed to have shiny, healthy and naturally beautiful hair!
Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Lopez… These are just some of the celebrities who love using Olaplex. But, what is there to love about it?
Well, the fact is, when using this intensive hair treatment system, you can make a brunette, black or red haired woman go platinum blonde in a few hours, without having to worry if the hair will be damaged or not – that’s just one of the reasons why Olaplex is called the “Holy Grail” of all hair systems.
Can Olaplex colour my hair from brunette to blonde?
You have to understand that it’s not a hair colour treatment. Olaplex can be used during the colour or post-colour treatment. Olaplex is only used to repair the broken bonds of your hair.
The celebrities mentioned above have gone blonde because they are not afraid of hair breakage anymore. Think about how many times you’ve seen a celebrity with dark hair one minute, then blonde the next. They all use Olaplex because you can push the boundaries of the hair, and, you can trust that your hair will be damage free. If celebrities who pride themselves on their looks use Olaplex as a hair healing treatment, why can’t you?
How does it work?
Olaplex was a revolutionary collaboration between two world-renowned doctors – Dr. Craig Hawker and Dr. Eric Pressly. They specialized in chemistry and raw materials science. Dr. Hawker wanted to create a product that is silicone-free and oil-free which can repair the hair bonds during and after any type of chemical or heat treatment on the hair. And thus, Olaplex was born.
The “Holy Grail” involves a three-step procedure.
The two Doctor’s call it the OLAPLEX BOND STRENGTHENING PROFESSIONAL SERVICE.
The first step is the application of the No.1 Bond Multiplier. It must be applied from the scalp down to the tips of your hair for best results. Your stylist will leave it on for a few minutes. (According to the Olaplex website, the Bond Multiplying System can be used as a reset button for your client’s hair and by doing so allows you to rebuild the strength, structure and integrity to the point where a color or chemical service would then be feasible once again, 2016.)
Next step is the No. 2 Bond Perfector. It will also be left on the hair for about ten to twenty minutes. Leaving it longer won’t hurt. Then, completely rinse it out with shampoo and conditioner. (According to the Olaplex website, this is used to link the remaining disulfide bonds before and after service restoring the strength, structure, and integrity of the hair, 2016.)
The third step is the No.3 Bond Perfector which will be used at home. Your stylist will teach you how to use it.
The same step by step process is followed when colour-treating the hair and using it together with Olaplex. (The No.1 and No.2 are to be handled by trained professionals only. Do not attempt to do the procedure without the assistance of trained hair stylists.)
